Mission and Vision:

     Economics is a subject which gets up early in the morning and sleeps  at night in the economic life of human being. It is the engine of growth of all the world economy. Our main aim is to impart higher education by providing quality education and educational innovations for academic excellence for nation building. The objective of the department is to nurture the finest talents in economics and capacitate them with high level of professional competence. The mission of the department is to encourage the students to create self style of living and to develop the society as a whole in the socio-economic field and other activities. Our effort is to make the student practical enough. We engage them in various socio-economic surveys in the remote areas for the upliftment of the rural economy. Providing knowledge of survival and quality of human being and maintaining sustainable development is the vision of our department.

  Courses offered:

     The undergraduate CBCS courses (BA in Economics) both for Honours and Regular are offered under Gauhati University by the Department. Apart from that the various papers of Commerce Stream are also taught by the Department. In addition to that, HS courses under AHSEC are also taught in the department as per rule of the Govt. of Assam. Further MA (IDOL) in Economics course is also available in the department.
